A goal-oriented English-learning platform: tell it what you actually need English for — nail a job interview, pass IELTS, move abroad, talk to your partner’s family — and it builds a plan around the finish line, not around “Unit 7B.”
The product is two halves. Real human tutors for paid lessons, with booking, scheduling, Stripe payments, and an ops console for the team that runs the marketplace. Lessons are delivered as live video calls over the Amazon Chime SDK. And Lily, a 24/7 conversational AI tutor: student speaks, Deepgram transcribes the audio, Claude generates a teacher-style reply (plus inline corrections — “we ate, past tense of eat”), Deepgram synthesises a voice, all streamed over WebSockets so the conversation feels live.
Architecture is a polyglot multi-project workspace: a React (CRA + MUI) student frontend, a separate React ops admin, a static-HTML marketing landing site, a Spring Boot 3 (Java) backend with Cognito + DynamoDB, a FastAPI (Python) AI service for the realtime voice loop, Java AWS Lambdas for async jobs, an end-to-end test suite, a native iOS app, and a TypeScript CDK stack tying the cloud together.
