Reflect.ee
News for Estonia in three languages — Estonian, Russian, and English, refreshed every five minutes.
A fully-automated news platform for Estonia. Every five minutes a scraper pulls fresh articles from 16+ sources (ERR, Postimees, Delfi, BBC, TechCrunch, Meduza, …) over RSS and parses them with cheerio. Claude Haiku then rewrites each one as an original article — for copyright safety — and translates it into Estonian, Russian, and English in a single pass.
Each story gets a category, a 1–10 importance score, a list of key facts, background context, a timeline, and tagged people. Person photos are resolved against Wikimedia Commons; everything else falls back to Pexels with keywords pulled from the article. Claude (vision) validates that the chosen image actually matches the story before publish; AWS Rekognition is in the loop for face detection on person images.
Before going live, candidate articles are deduplicated against existing content using title similarity, so multiple sources covering the same event collapse into one record. Web frontend (React + MUI), Node/TypeScript backend (DynamoDB + SQS + S3), native iOS app, and AWS CDK infra all in the workspace.
